Fifteen year old Anne Liu began playing piano at the age of four. She currently studies piano with Mr. Ethan Yi Dong. Her previous teachers were Mrs. Inessa Litvin and Ms. Xiaoyan Xia.
In 2014, Anne won first place in the H.B. Goodlin Scholarship Competition. She also won first place in the MTAC-San Diego Concerto Competition and performed twice with the San Diego Great Chamber Orchestra. Anne was a first place winner of the 2014 US Open Piano Competition in Palo Alto, and received an Outstanding Gold Medalist award. In March, she made her solo debut in Carnegie Hall being a winner of the International Young Gifted Musicians’ Festival, followed by two more separate solo recitals in December. In 2015, Anne was a second place winner of the Los Angeles International Young Musician Competition.
In November, 2016, Anne was a second place winner of the International Liszt Competition and received a special prize for overall best performance of an “Opera Paraphrase or Transcription”. She was a winner of the 2016 South Coast Symphony competition and performed with the South Coast Symphony in February of 2017. Anne’s first solo concert in China was performed in August, 2016.
Most recently Anne was the First Prize winner of the La Jolla Symphony Young Artists Competition in January, 2017. In the same month, she received Third Prize at the 8th Bösendorfer and Yamaha USASU International Piano Competition for Juniors, and was a recipient of the Special Award for the most outstanding performance of a composition by a Russian composer.
