Arthur Wang began learning piano at age 6, and currently studies under Dr. Sasha Starcevich. He previously studied with Professor Xiao Li and Dr. Victor Shevstov.
Competing locally, regionally and internationally, Arthur has gained numerous awards and much recognition from juries and audiences. Most recently, Arthur was awarded the Bronze Medal in the 8th Yamaha USASU International Piano Competition, Second Prize at the 2016 International Piano Competition for Young Musicians in Enschede, The Netherlands; Second Prize at the 2016 International Midwest Piano Competition in Cedar Falls, Iowa. His other achievements include First Prize of his category and winning the gala trophy at the 2016 Pacific Youth Music Festival, First Prize at the 2014 International Northwest Piano Ensemble Competition, First Prize at the 2014 and 2012 DYO Concerto Competitions, and First Prize at the 2011 UBC’s Got Talent Grand Final.
In local music festivals, Arthur is frequently invited to perform at gala concerts and provincial competitions. He made his orchestral debut at age 12, and has since performed on multiple occasions with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra and the Delta Youth Orchestra. Arthur has performed in venues including the Wilmersberg Zaal in Enschede, Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, The Queen Elizabeth Theater, and the Vancouver Playhouse. Arthur is also an ensemble musician, playing piano quartets and piano trios with his orchestra friends, and piano duos with his sister, Angeni Wang. Arthur plays in senior homes and benefit concerts, both as an ensemble member and as a soloist.
