JiWon Yang debuted in January 2012 when she was barely 9 years old by performing a solo recital at Mozart Hall and Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, South Korea. She also performed a concert in Yeong-san Art Hall in January 2012.
At just 14 years of age, JiWon has already won many awards, including Second Prize at the 2015 3rd International Festival of Classical Music & Competition for Young Pianists “Astana Piano Passion” in Kazakhstan. She performed with the Astana Philharmonic & Salzburg Chamber Soloists at the competition. She won Fourth Prize at the 2015 1st Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians in China. Additionally, JiWon has won First Prizes at the Yewon Concours in 2014, Teenager Concours in 2011, Little Mozart Audition in 2011, Samick Concours in 2010, and Suri Concours in 2010.
JiWon’s performance career has included a solo recital at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 2014 and for the Philippines Chopin Society Invitation Recital. She also performed at St. Paul University of the Philippines Invitation Recital in 2013. Recently she performed a solo recital at the Kumho Art Hall in November of 2016 for the Kumho Foundation Prodigy Invitation Series.
JiWon is currently studying with Mr. Hyoung-Joon Chang, Professor of Piano at the Seoul National University. She has also participated in master classes with Ekaterina Mechetina, Gerrit Zitterbart, and Hyekyoung Seo. Additionally JiWon is an enthusiastic 2nd year student at the Yewon Art School in Korea, and she enjoys playing the flute for her hobby.
