Sixteen year old Yongqiu Liu started learning piano at the age four, and is currently a sophomore at the Music Senior School Affiliated With the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, studying with the famous Chinese pianist Professor Ting Zhou. Additionally, she has been instructed in master classes by Professor Douglas Humpherys, Professor Meng-Chieh Liu, Professor Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Professor Alexander Korsantia, Professor Boris Slutsky, Cong Fu, and Chuan Qin.
Yongqiu was awarded the National Scholarship by the Music Middle School Affiliated with the SCOM for six consecutive years from 2010 to 2016. In 2013, she was also awarded the NIU Ende Scholarship, the FU Chengxian Scholarship, and the Shanghai Artistic Talents Scholarship. In 2013, she was invited by the Polish Embassy in China to present a piano recital.
Yongqiu has won many national and international prizes. Her notable honors include the Golden Award in the National Excellent Pianist in Piano Grading Test (2008), 2nd Prize at the 12th International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists in Poland for the Youth Group (2013), 4th Prize at the 9th Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition for Youth Music Group (2015), and was selected as the outstanding student and won the 1st Prize twice in the piano recital performance and concerto competition at the New York International Youth Music Festival (2013 & 2015).
Additionally, Yongqiu is an active participant in festivals, including The Telundiluo Music Festival in Italy (2014), and The 31st “The Spring of Shanghai” International Music Festival, Future Musicians series (2014).
