Volunteer Code of Ethics Agreement

Whereas the reputation of the Hilton Head International Piano Competition is built upon
its commitment to fairness and consistent operational procedures,

Whereas it is important that all who represent the competition maintain a neutral stance regarding competitors, jurors, the outcomes of the selection of semifinalists, finalists, and winners,

Whereas the successful operation of all phases of the competition and its related events is dependent upon numerous staff and volunteers,

Whereas volunteers and staff have opportunities to interact with competitors,chaperones and hosts families, with jury members, and with competition attendees, Therefore, as a member of the HHSO staff, HHSO Board of Directors, HHIPC committee or as a Competition volunteer I agree that:

  • I will in no way by my actions or words attempt to influence the outcome of the
  • I will not disclose information that I might have received incidentally or in confidence with any members of the audience, the competitors and their hosts or chaperones, or jury members.
  • I will refrain from stating my opinion regarding individual competitors, jury members, or Competition operations as my opinion may appear to have more weight due to the role that I have with the Competition.
  • I will be mindful that conversations between and among competition staff and volunteers should not be held in locations where they might be overheard by
