Brian Lin is a 2014 recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Arts Award – a $50,000 scholarship given annually for up to three years of graduate studies. He is one of only 20 artists in the United States to receive this award. In the summer of 2015, he participated in the Taos School of Music, a prestigious chamber music festival that only accepts 2 pianists each year worldwide.
Since coming to the U.S., Brian has been a top-prize winner at numerous competitions including the Lennox International Young Artists Competition and the Virginia Waring International Competition. In 2014, Lin received the Sascha Gorodnitzki Memorial Prize at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition.
Mr. Lin has performed solo recitals at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, the Foulds Theatre in Florida and the Tom Lee Music Steinway Hall in China. He has also played solo orchestral concerts with the Richardson Symphony Orchestra, the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra and the California State University Northridge Symphony Orchestra. Additional concert appearances occurred in Australia, France, Russia, and Korea. In 2012, Brian performed on New York’s classical music radio station WQXR’s Young Concert Artist Showcase. He has received scholarships to music festivals including the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Piano Texas Young Artists Festival, and Beijing International Piano Festival.
Brian’s previous teachers include Matti Raekallio, Tamás Ungár, Elearnor Wong, and Zhaoyi Dan. He has also performed in master classes with Murray Perahia, Richard Goode, Arie Vardi, Douglas Humpherys, and Barry Douglas. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree at The Juilliard School with Joseph Kalichstein and Yoheved Kaplinsky
