Our engaging and entertaining evening features delights for both your ears and your palate, featuring:
An intimate solo recital from 2017 HHIPC First Prize winner and multi-instrumentalist Ray Ushikubo, who was here in March 2023 as a soloist with the HHSO playing Beethoven’s first piano concerto (plus a memorable solo violin encore). Still only 21, Ray is currently pursuing a double Master’s degree in both piano and violin at the Colburn School of Music in Los Angeles (similar to the double degree he earned from Curtis). He’s making a special trip from L.A. to play for us, and we’re hopeful that he might indeed bring his violin with him for what we know will be a memorable performance! Also, our Director Steve Shaiman will interview Ray to learn the latest news about his burgeoning career!
As an added bonus, talented young jazz pianist Aaron Lehrian from Savannah (winner of the 2014 Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition) will treat us to an innovative blend of classical and jazz.
