Nadia Azzi was born to Lebanese-Japanese parents and began playing the piano at age five. Her notable awards include winning the 2014 Nordmann Scholarship Competition, which gave her a full-tuition merit scholarship to continue her studies at Juilliard; the Gold Medal at the 2014 Youth Talent Show on Sinovision TV; First Prize at the 2013 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition; Second Prize and Audience Prize at the 2013 Thousand Islands International Chopin Piano Competition; Grand Prize at the 2012 Crescendo International Music Competition; and top prizes in the Open Junior Piano and Early Music Categories at the Walgreens National Concerto Competition, Tampa Bay Symphony Young Artist Competition, New Music National Young Artist Competition, Orfeo International Music Competition, and AADGT International Music Festival.
Recent engagements include her third performance at Carnegie Hall, an appearance on NPR’s From the Top, WGN-TV Chicago, Radio Canada International, Aspen Music Festival, Yellow Barn, Newport Music Festival, Junior Academy Eppan, David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center, 98.7WFMT Chicago, and Washington, D.C. by invitation from the Florida House on Capitol Hill.
Nadia has recently performed with the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen Orchestra, Orchestre de la Francophonie, New Philharmonic Orchestra, Northwest Indiana Symphony, Tampa Bay Symphony, Richey Orchestra, and the Juilliard Pre-College String Ensemble under distinguished conductors.
Fluent in Japanese and English, Nadia was one of Duke TIP’s most academically gifted students and is a member of American MENSA. She actively promotes music through numerous outreach programs. Nadia studies with Yoheved Kaplinsky at The Juilliard School PreCollege Division.
