Yui Fushiki was born in Hokkaido, Japan and was given her first piano lesson at the age of 4. In 2009 she was awarded a place at the Tokyo University of Arts (Geidai) where she studied with Susumu Aoyagi and successfully finished her bachelor’s degree in 2013 with special prizes (‘Ariadne Musica’ and ‘Doseikai’) given to outstanding students. She is also a graduate of the Berlin University of Arts, where she is currently attending a post graduate soloist course with Prof. Pascal Devoyon and Rikako Murata.
Ms. Fushiki received a scholarship from Yamaha, where she studied composition and her solo work entitled “Sonatina” has been produced as a commercial CD. She has also been awarded prizes in numerous competitions, including Second Prize in Category G at the PTNA competition (2004), First Prize at the Chopin Student Piano Competition in Hokkaido (2008), Finalist in the 79th Japan Music Competition (2010), First Prize at the Himes Competition (2014), and First Prize at the Rocchetta International Piano Competition in Italy (2014).
She participated in the Mozarteum international summer academy in Salzburg and the “Musicalp” international summer academy in Courchevel and Tignes, where she performed at the final concerts. Ms. Fushiki has performed in master classes with Aleksander Madzer, Arie Vardi and Klaus Hellwig, and has also taken lessons in chamber music with Akira Eguchi, Takako Yamasaki and Frank-Immo Zichner.
Yui has performed many concerts in Japan and Germany. Her more recent performances include the Chopin Festival at Kawai Omotesando in Tokyo, the Hindemith Festival in Berlin, and piano concertos with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Geidai Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Daisuke Soga and Yoko Matsuo.
